About UsWe are a group of like-minded, sometimes overzealous and idealistic, individuals who see the need for sharing ideas and information about green solutions and products. We created OsoEco to answer our own questions about what's green, what's sustainable, and what kinds of things we should buy and do that are good for our communities and, not to sound completely cheesy and cliche, our world. Caroline Cummings, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder
Caroline currently lives atop a hill on a couple of acres in a town with a population of 2237. And before that she lived in Philly working in the corporate world for a company with a population of 40,000. And before that - when she was 11 years old - she pretended to be her brother, Tony, and raced BMX bikes for a team that didn't allow girls. So you can see how she was laying the groundwork for her passion for change management. Caroline co-founded OsoEco out of her passion for sustainability and doing something for the greater good. You always know when Caroline is innovating because her voice raises by about 5 octaves, there are several curse words flying out of her mouth (oh yeah, she's from Jersey) - and her hands start to take on a persona of their own. We sometimes wonder if she could speak if her hands were tied behind her back. Hmmm, perhaps we'll try and let you know. Caroline bailed while pursuing her MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia a few years ago to move to Oregon to change the world. She's also proud to sit on the board for Committed Partners for Youth -- a grassroots non-profit in Eugene, Oregon that mentors at-risk youth. Want to reach out and touch Caroline? Katie's nickname, PollyAnna, suits her well. Even as workstations crash, and servers explode while deadlines loom, she is always looking on the bright side of things. She is often seen tap dancing into work with a cheery smile and something nice to say. Her mission in life is to create a business that is meaningful and in line with her ethics and values - OsoEco is just that. Katie enjoys planting pretty flowers, waving at strangers, and painting unicorns. Katie holds a MBA from George Fox University. What? You wanna contact Katie? Email katiewh[at]osoeco.com. Ethan McCutchen, Chief Technology Officer
Ethan is a strong advocate of wikis, using web applications and database management to empower people to make informed, sustainable, choices; and, most importantly, a lover of stickies. He is often seen and heard around the office murmuring, ‟Pastels! Why oh why can't they make recycled stickies with a better color palette?″ Ethan has also managed to recycle his stickies into clever origami designs. He co-founded Grass Commons, a non-profit dedicated to building pipelines between those who can generate information about products and companies, and those who can use that information to build a more sustainable economy and, ultimately, a better world. Ethan holds a BA in Music Composition from Davidson College, North Carolina. It's amazing to watch Ethan - as he writes music and codes simultaneously. Your basic genius! Got some new info on stickies? Email ethanm[at]osoeco.com. Lewis Hoffman, Lead Systems Engineer
When Lewis gets up in the morning, he immediately begins gnawing on how to build a world with info systems that pony-up pertinent, reliable consumer info from anyone who provides it to anyone who wants it… Okay, well maybe it's not the first thing he does… but right after the hike and meditation he gets right to work on making technology that works better for all of us. Lewis is probably the loudest person in our office. Okay - so that′s not the truth either. Lewis is one of those people who doesn't waste his time writing silly bios like this one. Every word he murmurs has deep significance and forceful intention. We sometimes wait around for days to hear Lewis shed some light on our dusty intellects. He co-founded Grass Commons with Ethan, and holds a Masters in Computer Science from George Mason University. Want to set up a time to go on a hike? Email lewish[at]osoeco.com. Adele Wilson-Hamaker, Media Director
Adele is a little like Glenda the good witch -- she always knows all the answers but chooses to let others figure it out for themselves. She also looks fantastic in a tiara and gown. She is a lover of old cars, web sites that are easy and intuitive, and snappy repartee. She has an uncanny ability to recognize when someone has moved items on her desk, or worse yet, actually sat at it. Adele has an MFA in Media Arts, several awards for film projects, and eczema on her left elbow. Seen someone at Adele's desk? Email adele[at]osoeco.com. Cris Bisch, Conscious Community Developer
When Cris isn't thinking about Eco Matters, finding Finds, writing Comments and Reviews, she is the proprietor of Le Roost Lorane, a green B&B located in the wine country near Eugene. Cris' gift of hospitality extends into every aspect of her life; she is passionate about building community and supports agri-tourism. It all started with a lemonade stand one hot summer day when Cris was six. Although she drank most of it herself, she attracted a few thirsty bystanders. Today, Cris and her husband are perfecting their creation, a European-style lemon sorbet, which they serve to revive weary sojourners. It wasn't until much later in life that Cris understood the importance of the adage "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!" Life's lessons have taught Cris to think outside the box, stay open to new ideas and possibilities, to take risks and remain flexible. As a proverbial optimist, Cris is an enthusiastic and passionate soul that thrives on being linked into the synergistic and creative processes of team work and community building. "Green living is great!", says Cris, "but growing a Green Community is awesome!" As a Master Recycler, Cris has a special interest in helping others rethink, refuse, reduce, reuse and recycle. Want to recycle some of your ideas for building the OsoEco community? Email Cris at cris[at]osoeco.com. |
