Where We're GoingAbout 5 months ago, three of us at OsoEco took a challenge -- who could find an eco laptop bag that fell into our version of "cool". After 2 hours, the three of us found about twenty products, either made out of hemp, organic cotton, or recycled rubber tires... but none of us could easily determine which was the "best"... which one was manufactured in line with our sustainable values? Which was the best monetary value? Which looked best? We dream of an online community whose focus is on green solutions, products and living. We close our eyes at night and fall asleep wishing for a site that will empower us to:
And then we wake up, hop out of bed, grab our bikes or biodeisel vintage cars, and come to work where we start building it. Right now we're creating online social shopping tools around green solutions and products. We're currently testing them with a small group of enthusiastic OsoEco'ers. Later we'll be growing our green social shopping tools as well as organizing sustainability data about manufacturers and businesses. Instead of spending hours on the internet researching whether a business is in line with your values, we'll compile the info for you so it's all right there when you want it. After that, we'll be focusing on making it easy to buy green products from the eco-businesses that you trust. Throughout all of this, we'll be thinking creatively about building community, supporting local -- wherever local might be to you -- and offering blogs and how-to's so it's easy for people to find each other and healthy solutions.
